A new team of Board Members have taken over the leadership of the Co-Op, following the Co-Op AGM on 24.06.2018. 12 members were elected to the Board at the AGM. The Team consist of five members from the previous Board and Seven new members. Essentially it is a renewal of the management team. Three more members to be nominated by Tamils Representative Council will be co-opted to the Board, making it a total of 15 members. There will be a fair mix of locals and new residents; at least 10 out of the 15 Board members are Singaporeans; and remaining 5 are Permanent Residents.
An updated list of office bearers can be found on this website.
The Co-Op which started with the lofty ambition of becoming the Financial Arm of the Tamil Community, had not functioned as well as it had wanted to; and/or that was expected of it.
The new Committee will dedicate itself to put the Society back on track to meet its founding aspirations; and to serve the Indian Community with pride and dedication. Although we operate in the name of the Tamil Community, we will serve our membership without any bias for ethnicity or other differences.
The Society will work closely with TRC, the umbrella body of Tamil Community organisations. Similarly, after a long break, TRC has agreed to nominate three of its Council members to the Board of the Co-Op.
Like every beginning, we are starting with hope and direction. Our challenge would be to sustain the focus on our objectives and achieve the goals that we have set for our term of office.
We look forward to the continued support and understanding of members. We will do our best; so that you can be proud of your Co-Operative Society.
